How long will I be in pain?
Typically post surgical soreness and swelling lasts about 8-12 weeks. As your recovery progresses, you can expect to feel some muscle pain in the leg and hip areas as you build up muscles that have been inactive.
How long is the recovery period?
Approximately 8-12 weeks. Full recovery can take up to one year.
How long until I can walk?
You may be placed in a brace after surgery, but you will likely be able to put full weight on your operated leg immediately (as you can tolerate) using crutches or an assistive device
How long must I wear the leg brace?
Typically about 1-2 weeks, unless otherwise specified by your doctor.
How long must I go to physical therapy?
That depends upon you and your individual needs. Average length of therapy is 6-8 weeks
When can I go back to work?
That depends on your job requirements and your tolerance. In general:
- Office-type work: 2-3 weeks
- Standing: Approx. 8 weeks
- Labor: Approx. 3-6 months
